Construction commences at new Catholic primary school in Chisholm
Bishop Bill Wright of the Diocese of Maitland-Newcastle will kick off construction and bless the site for the new St Aloysius Primary School in Chisholm this Thursday from 10.30am.
Maitland City Deputy Mayor, Stephen Procter and Director of Catholic Schools, Ray Collins along with parents and prospective students will also join the Bishop in ‘turning the dirt’ to mark the official start of construction onsite.
“It’s exciting to begin works for St Aloysius, what will be our newest primary school in the Maitland-Newcastle Diocese upon completion in late 2014.”
“I’m pleased to be asked to bless the construction site, and acknowledge the work completed so far, and that which is to come to the opening in time for the 2015 school year.” Bishop Bill said.
The commencement of construction signals an exciting time for prospective parents of children looking to enroll in St Aloysius for 2015. Director of Catholic Schools, Ray Collins is looking forward to seeing students begin the 2015 school year at St Aloysius:
“Now that the ground has officially been broken and the site blessed by Bishop Bill, I’m looking forward to seeing the school begin to take shape over the coming months.”
“I know many parents and students will be driving past each morning, eagerly watching progress as their new school is built from the ground up.” Mr Collins said.
St Aloysius will initially cater for children from Kindergarten to Year 6, a total of 420 students. Limited places are available for 2015. Interested parents should get in touch with the Catholic Schools Office on 02 4979 1207 to pick up a student enrolment pack.
