Diocese appoints Administrator
Following the death of Bishop Bill Wright, Fr Greg Barker has been appointed the Diocesan Administrator.
Fr Greg was appointed by the Catholic Diocese of Maitland-Newcastle’s College of Consultors, the group of priests who have a canonical role in the governance of the Diocese. The Diocesan Administrator is a role that leads the Diocese until the Holy Father, Pope Francis, appoints a new bishop.
Currently the Parish Priest of Boolaroo, Warners Bay and Booragul Parishes, Fr Greg will continue in this role as well as taking on the Administrator role and continuing with the directions established by Bishop Bill.
Commenting on his new role, Fr Greg said “I feel privileged to have been entrusted with this role and with the help of the Parish Leaders and the staff in the Diocese I know together we will uphold the amazing testament of Bishop Bill”.
