Local Catholic schools among the top in the region for HSC results
184 students from the Maitland-Newcastle Diocese Secondary Schools have featured in this year’s Board of Studies, Teaching and Educational Standards (BOSTES) distinguished achievers list, each scoring a Band 6 mark of between 90-100 for their course.
St Francis Xavier’s College, Hamilton had over 70 students listed as distinguished achievers, the highest number in the region of all non-selective schools.
Director of Schools, Ray Collins said the results were a testament to the hard work and effort throughout the entire school year of both students and staff:
“I congratulate our students on their excellent results in this year’s higher school certificate; we are pleased to see our school’s focus on academic excellence once again be demonstrated with exceptional results”
“With strong achievements in a wide range of subjects including traditional subjects as well as areas such as the creative and performing arts, health sciences, languages and vocational education courses our schools provide an extensive array of options for students with a focus on a well-rounded education. It’s important for us to challenge our students with new ways of thinking to prepare them for their next steps into the adult world.” Mr Collins said.
